Ok I didn't want my Bloggs out of order but I am in Arizona and I have access to the Internet and I don't have access to my computer where I can get to my bloggs. (I am a little technically challenged) My son is coming here for Thanksgiving and we are going to get them all posted in to this blogg and he is gonna teach me some things.

What do you consider elements of quality care when receiving healthcare services? What do you consider elements of quality care as a professional nurse? Are the two similar or different?


Well I enjoyed yet another discussion this week in class.
My thoughts for "Quality Care" are very different when viewed as a professional nurse and as a patient. As a patient I consider quality care to be mostly the attitude, knowledge, communication, and personality of the professionals taking care of me. I consider quality care to be more related to listening, teaching, caring, compassion, and concern for me and my problem or illness. I also consider the financial aspect of quality care more when I am a patient. Quality care as a patient means it is affordable and accessible.

As a professional I consider quality care to be more part of the products and supplies and availability of the products and supplies that are needed to care for my patient. As a professional quality care means having state of the art technology and supplies. It involves other professionals that collaborate with you to provide care. like having knowledgeable doctors that can diagnose and prescribe the correct treatments and medications. Quality care is about how functional the unit and hospital is and the computers and other co workers.
For me, quality care is different when I am recieveing care and when I am giving care. The elements of this care are made up differently and yet some of the same elements are found in both situations and can be intertwined.

Well,

I have 48 hours from the time that I finish a clinical to post an entry to this blog. Although this takes me out of my comfort zone, (because it is new and uncharted territory for me), I think I am going to like this class. I don't know about the 90 clinical hours that need to be completed, but it will be good for me. I am going to try to do my best not to procrastinate these hours because the semester ends in December and I want to enjoy the holiday season (November and December) so I am going to try and get all my hours done in Sept. and Oct. I am glad that I have found a "mentor" Cara Mickelsen. She is the manager for the IHC clinic in Sugarhouse. I cant wait to work with her and I am going to put in some hours tomorrow.



I enjoyed our class discussion on Monday with Gaya. We all have to take turns leading a discussion. I will lead the discussion on Nov. 16th.

Well here it is.... my first blog.
